Conservation

Currently, the brown greater galago is classified as a species of Least Concern by the IUCN. However, its populations have faced threats in recent years from being hunted for food and being killed by domestic dogs.

There are no restrictions on owning a galago as a pet in the UK. However, this is a controversial due to the fact that pet galagoes are often obtained by the illegal galago trade which can pose a threat to their conservation. In addition, a captive galago requires a lot of care to emulate the enrichment of its natural environment and accomodate its nocturnal lifestyle.

In captivity, the brown greater galago may be fed a diet of young frozen mice, mixed vegetables, fresh and dried fruits and eggs.
